The ultimate dream of every webmaster, your pages showing up on page one in the major search engines. Achieving a higher search engine ranking is not impossible, someone has to be on page one, so why should it not be you?
There are a multitude of theories going around constantly, each claiming to have the best method for achieving higher search engine ranking. Some are cheap and others are very expensive, then don’t forget all the tools that should help you achieve your desired results.
Let’s go back a few steps and have a good look at why you would want higher search engine rankings in the first place. The driving force behind it all is traffic, more eyeballs on your pages. The more eyeballs you have the higher possibility of sales and of course the reason why you are doing all of this in the first place, to make a profit.
Ranking for certain keywords is a walk in the park, for instance your business name. If you are a branded name people will know, but for most nobody except your immediate family and the receiver of revenue knows your business name. Though it will be easy to rank on page one it will have no effect on the traffic your site generates.
The idea behind higher search engine ranking is for keywords and keyword phrases that are actually searched for by human visitors. People type it in and thus find your website. A keyword term that only generated around twenty odd hits per month would not be something you would put time and effort into since it won’t bring in much cash, what you are looking for are keywords that have around one hundred searches per day.
There are many of those around but there are also just as many websites targeting those exact same keywords meaning that you are going to face some real tough competition if you want your page to appear on page one. For you to get there someone else has to drop off. They are not going to take that lightly.
If you are on page one don’t get lax, this is the time which you should work just as hard to stay on page one as there are another one thousand webmasters who would like to see their page there instead of yours. Keep your methods to yourself and apply them vigorously.
To get higher search engine rankings for certain competitive keywords you need some power to wield. The internet is much bigger with new sites going up every day from good sites all the way through to spam sites just trying to get their hands on the traffic. To get onto page one you are going to have to pull the punches hard and fast.
The simple systems that worked a few years ago are now ancient and have left for the museum; you need the new technology and grunt to stay ahead of the pack. This requires a solution that has proven itself and can supply on demand.
